Maggie and Emma's new "classroom"
I wanted to post these pictures of Maggie and Emma's new "classroom"/playroom. My parent's hooked them up with their desks, bookshelf and storage caddy and we were able to purchase the foam flooring with money that Uncle Roger gave them for Christmas. Their learning room is all set up now and they LOVE it!

Christmas is over...
I am always so sad this time of year when Christmas is done and over with and we begin to creep up on a new year. This is the time when I just sit and think about the year that has past and how many great and not so great things happened and then I start thinking about the year that is to come. I start thinking about things like, oh goodness, I am turning 30 this year, or even bigger, my babies are turning 2! This year I am thinking about the fact that my babies are no longer "babies" and it makes me a little sad. But anyway, that's not what this post is about. This post is a minuscule recap of our Christmas.
We had Christmas with Jason's side of the family the weekend of December 17 in Moulton at his Mom and step-dad's house. We had so much fun and the girls made out like bandits even though we told everyone not to go crazy on gifts. A few of their favorite gifts were their baby strollers, sock monkey's, bead chaser/activity cube, pj's, and definitely their ball pit that cousin Patrick got them. Oh, and their weeble wabbles...I can't forget those. They LOVE their weeble wobbles. Something so simple and they just love the things!
On Christmas Eve is when we do Christmas on my side of the family. We all went over to my Mom and Daddy's house and enjoyed good food, fun and family. The girls made out pretty nicely there too...again, even though we told everyone not to go crazy on gifts. Oh well though, that's just what Grandparent's do I guess! Some of their fave gifts on Christmas eve were their bookshelf, desks, puzzles, jackets, and super cute outfits. My favorite gift that they received were their diamond earrings. Yep, they got their first pair of diamonds at 20 months. I was 26 years before I got my first pair of real diamond earrings!
On Christmas morning we hung out at home. Jason made a wonderful breakfast and then he put together the girls' bookshelf, desks, chairs and storage caddy thing-a-ma-jig. Then we just lazed around and watched the girls play with their new toys. Later we went over to Mom and Daddy's for Christmas dinner, yum! It was a very laid back day, just how we like them! The girls' favorite Santa gifts were their shopping carts, play cell phones, Veggie Tales movie and their M&M's they found in their stockings. They each had a candy cane tube of M&M's and had consumed every single M&M by about 10am! We figured, hey, it's Christmas and they had fun!
A funny story to tell really quickly about our Christmas tree. Anyone who has or has had a toddler knows that the whole Christmas tree thing is just a big pain in the booty and we have two toddlers. So, we decided to put up our pre-lit 4 ft. Christmas tree this year instead of our 6 ft. tree. But that's not the funny part, we didn't put it up until the girls were sound asleep in bed on Christmas eve night and then we didn't even decorate it. Anything to make Mommy and Daddy's lives a little easier! We'll do the whole decorating thing next year when they are older and will actually appreciate it. As for this year, they'll never even remember that they didn't have a Christmas tree until Christmas morning and Mommy and Daddy didn't have to worry about glass ornaments...win win! You'll see the picture below of our pitiful tree!
We had an incredibly blessed Christmas. We were fortunate to have been able to spend it with our family and friends whom we love so much! Before we all know it, we'll be gearing up for Christmas again in 2011 but for now, God Bless you all!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Hello Family and Friends,
This year has been so hectic so instead of mailing out Christmas cards that might possibly not even make it to you by Christmas, I am writing a Christmas letter on this blog for you all. Maybe we'll get some "Thinking of You" cards sent out at the start of next year! :)
So, what's been going on in the Farrell house in 2010? Quite a lot actually. The girls have quickly gone from babies to big girls this year. They learned to crawl and walk, feed themselves with forks, brush their teeth, learned how to climb (and fall off) of the couches, learned the word "no", experienced their first "Happy Meal" and loved it, experienced snow for the first time (well sort of...there were flurries), started playing on playgrounds, started talking (and we actually understand them), have sat their first "time outs," learned to test their boundaries, started to show love and compassion, give real smoochy kisses, give high fives, wave bye bye (and say it), blow kisses and the list goes on...and on...and on! They are amazing little people and Jason and I have enjoyed watching these milestones tremendously in 2010! We cannot wait to see the great strides they will make in 2011!
Tyler is 13 and a half now. He has officially made it through the first half of his 7th grade year. He is GIRL CRAZY which is apparently pretty common at this age. He loves his baby sisters dearly and is so good with them. He continuously surprises us daily (both good and bad!) He has made great strides to do well in school lately and hopefully will continue to keep trying hard in 2011! I am excited to see the kind of man he evolves into in this next year.
Jason is still working with the City of Austin, Austin Energy. Not much has changed for him there. In October he enlisted in the Airforce Reserves. He has not served his first weekend yet but we are expecting sometime in January (hopefully anyway--he can't wait to smell like jet fuel again!). He will serve one weekend per month at Lackland AF Base in San Antonio and then two weeks during the summer. The great thing about it being so close to home is he won't have to spend any nights away from home! He is really excited to be a part of the armed forces again. He was made for the military! In February he was baptized at the Fellowship at Plum Creek. That day sits right up there as one of the best days of our lives along with our wedding day, the day we found out we were expecting and the day the girls entered into this world. Jason has been such a great spiritual leader in our house. I am so proud of Jason's accomplishments in 2010.
As for me, I am still at home raising babies. In January a very good friend of mine and her husband offered me a great job working from home. I have been enjoying my position and expect to be with them for many years to come--so long as they want me anyway. ;-) I started attending a bible study on Wed. mornings back in September and we have now gone through two different studies. We are currently on break for the holidays but I cannot wait to pick back up in January with a Beth Moore study. I so love my bible study sisters and will miss them for these next couple of weeks! I have thoroughly enjoyed being a stay at home mommy and watching my beauties grow up in 2010 and pray that I will continue to have the privilege of staying home with them in 2011.
I hope that in the craziness of this holiday season you all will remember what Christmas is truly about. It is about the virgin birth of our savior Jesus Christ, it's not about what we get, or what we give to others. Please remember this as you're frazzled baking that one last batch of cookies or frustrated with the tape as you wrap that one last gift, or as you push through crowds at Target on Christmas Eve buying that one last stocking stuffer. Remember the gift that Christ has given you, eternal life in Him!

I hope all of you have had a fantastic 2010 and I pray that 2011 will be a year of many blessings!

A new one for me...
We have managed to go almost 19 and a half months without a poopie in the tub...until last night. Jason and I were bathing the girls and next thing we know Emma is horrified and has poop on her hand. We are pretty sure it was Emma that was the culprit because it was nowhere near Maggie. Thankfully Jason is such an awesome, hands on Daddy and always helps bathe them (or does it himself most nights) and was in the bathroom because this is was an all time first for me. I didn't know what to do. Do I try to scoop the poop out of the water first, or take the kiddos out? Then do you let the water drain and hope the strays go down with the water, do you re-bathe the girls...what the heck do you do??? Well Jason knew exactly what to do and together we got the girls out of the tub, got them all cleaned up and dried off and the bathtub along with the bath toys got a bleach soaking--all was good. Now give me a diaper blow out or a vomiting kid, but poopie in the tub...that's a new one. And I hope the last one!

Sleeping Babies
So I was contemplating this the other night as I said a blessing over my sleeping sweet girls before I went to bed myself. When they are tiny babies, the Academy of Pediatrics recommends you have them sleep on their backs. For one reason or another stats have shown there is less risk of SIDS if you have them sleep on their backs. I don't know about any of you but my girls hated to sleep on their backs as tiny babies. They had very immature digestive systems and had horribly gassy tummies and mild reflux. Sleeping on their backs just hurt. So, at about 2 and a half months Jason convinced me that it was better for them to sleep on their tummies and get some sleep rather than put them on their backs and them get little to no sleep. So we did and just didn't tell our pediatrician (or many others to keep from being judged as bad parents). That solved the problem and before we knew it they were sleeping for 3-4 hours at a time rather than 1-2! Life has been great since then...we have actually gone an entire year now of sleeping 10-12 hours per night, bliss! But anyway, back to what I was contemplating, I go into their room now and 9 times out of 10 one (or both) of them are sleeping, yep, you guessed it, on their backs! Now that the risk of SIDS has dramatically decreased (I don't even know if it's an issue after 12 months) they sleep on their backs. And not only are they sleeping on their backs, they enjoy it! It tickled me a little bit to think about how hard I tried to get them to sleep on their backs when they were little bitties and how nervous I was the first couple of nights I actually put them down on their tummies and now that it doesn't matter how they sleep, they choose to sleep on their backs!
