Christmas is over...

I am always so sad this time of year when Christmas is done and over with and we begin to creep up on a new year.  This is the time when I just sit and think about the year that has past and how many great and not so great things happened and then I start thinking about the year that is to come.  I start thinking about things like, oh goodness, I am turning 30 this year, or even bigger, my babies are turning 2!  This year I am thinking about the fact that my babies are no longer "babies" and it makes me a little sad.  But anyway, that's not what this post is about.  This post is a minuscule recap of our Christmas.

We had Christmas with Jason's side of the family the weekend of December 17 in Moulton at his Mom and step-dad's house.  We had so much fun and the girls made out like bandits even though we told everyone not to go crazy on gifts.  A few of their favorite gifts were their baby strollers, sock monkey's, bead chaser/activity cube, pj's, and definitely their ball pit that cousin Patrick got them.  Oh, and their weeble wabbles...I can't forget those.  They LOVE their weeble wobbles.  Something so simple and they just love the things!

On Christmas Eve is when we do Christmas on my side of the family.  We all went over to my Mom and Daddy's house and enjoyed good food, fun and family.  The girls made out pretty nicely there too...again, even though we told everyone not to go crazy on gifts.  Oh well though, that's just what Grandparent's do I guess!  Some of their fave gifts on Christmas eve were their bookshelf, desks, puzzles, jackets, and super cute outfits.  My favorite gift that they received were their diamond earrings.  Yep, they got their first pair of diamonds at 20 months.  I was 26 years before I got my first pair of real diamond earrings! 

On Christmas morning we hung out at home.  Jason made a wonderful breakfast and then he put together the girls' bookshelf, desks, chairs and storage caddy thing-a-ma-jig.  Then we just lazed around and watched the girls play with their new toys.  Later we went over to Mom and Daddy's for Christmas dinner, yum!  It was a very laid back day, just how we like them!  The girls' favorite Santa gifts were their shopping carts, play cell phones, Veggie Tales movie and their M&M's they found in their stockings.  They each had a candy cane tube of M&M's and had consumed every single M&M by about 10am!  We figured, hey, it's Christmas and they had fun!

A funny story to tell really quickly about our Christmas tree.  Anyone who has or has had a toddler knows that the whole Christmas tree thing is just a big pain in the booty and we have two toddlers.  So, we decided to put up our pre-lit 4 ft. Christmas tree this year instead of our 6 ft. tree.  But that's not the funny part, we didn't put it up until the girls were sound asleep in bed on Christmas eve night and then we didn't even decorate it.  Anything to make Mommy and Daddy's lives a little easier!  We'll do the whole decorating thing next year when they are older and will actually appreciate it.  As for this year, they'll never even remember that they didn't have a Christmas tree until Christmas morning and Mommy and Daddy didn't have to worry about glass ornaments...win win!  You'll see the picture below of our pitiful tree! 

We had an incredibly blessed Christmas.  We were fortunate to have been able to spend it with our family and friends whom we love so much!  Before we all know it, we'll be gearing up for Christmas again in 2011 but for now, God Bless you all!
